HUSBAND SURPRISES WIFE WITH $20,000 GIFT TO HER FAVORITE MILITARY CHARITY

Greg Dorin, a long-time supporter of San Diego based Support the Enlisted Project (STEP), honors wife Denise’s commitment to the organization with a $20,000 gift in support of their expansion into Washington State

San Diego, CA – When Denise Dorin opened STEP’s newest annual report, where she read they were planning to expand services to Washington State, she started to cry. Her husband, Greg Dorin, shared she was overwhelmed with pride, as she had been volunteering with the agency since its inception. Greg decided to honor her commitment with a generous $20,000 gift.

“My wife has been giving back to others for as long as I can remember. One of her favorite organizations is STEP because she believes so much in their mission. As a family we thought it was important to honor Denise for her charitable spirit by making an impactful donation to STEP that will certainly bring comfort and wellbeing to our military families,” shared Greg.

Denise is not only a STEP volunteer, but a significant a donor to their programmatic and in-kind campaigns. From adopting families through the holidays Sharing the Joy, to organizing baby and toy drives, to encouraging everyone in the family to donate their household items for STEP families in crisis, Denise is thoroughly engaged.

“Denise should take pride in our expansion to Washington, as she helped build our foundation. She was the first volunteer at STEP in 2012 and worked a full three days each week,” shared CEO and Co-Founder Tony Teravainen. “She actually set up and managed our original donor database for three years, which was great because we had no resources that could do it. I honestly do not know how we would have survived those first years without her.”

In 2017, STEP initiated an annual Honor Roll of Leadership award, recognizing those who had made significant impacts to the agency. Greg and Denise Dorin were the first recipients of that award. Their legacy is forever cemented in STEP’s continued success.
