Local Community Progams

Groceries & diapers gone before payday.
Holiday gifts & meals don’t fit in the budget.
Questions about education benefits.
Sometimes it's the little things that crack the foundation

That’s where these programs come in. They ease the pressure in the moment - and support the bigger journey you’re on.

This Is What Local Impact Looks Like

Through these programs, we reach hundreds of thousands of service members, Veterans, and their families each year - touching lives in the moments that matter most. It starts with a box of groceries, a backpack full of supplies, a conversation about college.

This is how we help clients make it through today, while introducing them to the possibility of a better tomorrow.

Impacting More Military Families

Discover our various local community programs designed to support your financial wellness journey.

Monthly Distributions

1 in 4 military families are food insecure. That number is far too high, so we stepped in.

Every month in San Diego, we host dirstributions to:

Meet immediate needs
Ease financial pressure
Fight food insecurity in the short term

"I wasn’t sure how we’d get through the week."
"
I’ve been skipping meals so my kids could eat."

We hear this too often. Distributions meet families in the moment - and connect them with our Financial Wellness Counseling program. That’s how we fight food insecurity for good.

Thanksgiving

When you're just trying to get through the week, adding a holiday meal to the grocery list can be daunting.

That's why our Thanksgiving Distribution provides Thanksgiving meal items, so families, who already spend so much time apart, can share a holiday meal together without the added financial pressure.

We also introduce them to our core program, so they can work on a plan that ensures future holidays are filled with joy, not financial pressure.

Sharing the Joy

The holidays are hard when money’s tight.

We hear it every year - parents who want to give their kids a joyful season but don’t have the means. Sharing the Joy connects those families with donors who shop directly from their wishlists.

It's a one-time program, meant to help families get through the holidays - and introduce them to our core program, so the holidays can become a time of joy, permanently.

Meeting Clients Where They Are.

At STEP, everything we do centers on long-term financial wellness - through personalized counseling, education, and emergency support. Our programs are designed to support that journey by meeting clients where they are, easing immediate expenses, and building relationships in the community.
