Jose joined STEP in February 2025 as a Social Worker, bringing firsthand experience as both a Marine Corps veteran and military spouse. He knows military life doesn’t come with a manual - he’s lived it - and he’s passionate about helping families navigate the financial challenges that come with service. After 10 years in the military, Jose earned his B.A. in Psychology from National University and an MSW from Cal State San Marcos.

At STEP, he provides solution-focused financial counseling, resource navigation, and compassionate, personalized support to military and Veteran families. Outside of work, Jose stays connected to the veteran community as a volunteer Veteran Service Representative. He enjoys surfing, painting, and spending time with his family - whether it’s beach days or cheering from the sidelines at his kids’ games.
